The family is one of nature’s masterpieces.

Family is what it’s all about. Some of you might not agree but that depends on what you define as family. To me, family goes beyond just those who share the same blood as you. It extends to the people you love, care about, and would miss terribly if they ever left your life.

Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. Your family and your love must be cultivated like a garden. Time, effort, and imagination must be summoned constantly to keep any relationship flourishing and growing.

In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony.

To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right.

When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses.

In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.

I don’t care how poor a man is; if he has family, he’s rich.

Family Is Everything

I woke up one morning thinking about wolves and realized that wolf packs function as families. Everyone has a role, and if you act within the parameters of your role, the whole pack succeeds, and when that falls apart, so does the 1

Family is a single word, with many different meanings. People have many ways of defining a family and what being a part of a family means to them. Families differ in terms of economic, cultural, social, and many other facets, but what every family has in common is that the people who call it a family are making clear that those people are important in some way to the person calling them his family.

The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life. You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.

In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, and the bridge to our future. Family is one of nature’s masterpieces.

Change is the law of life.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Change your opinions, keep to your principles; change your leaves, keep intact your roots.

Some people don’t like change, but you need to embrace change if the alternative is disaster.                                       images (1)

Miracles happen everyday, change your perception of what a miracle is and you’ll see them all around you.

You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.

Sometimes it’s the smallest decisions that can change your life forever.

Missing Someone you Love

You think that holding someone hard will bring them closer. You think that you can hold them so hard that you’ll still feel them next to you.

Growth in love comes from a place of absence, where the imagination is left to it’s own devices and creates you to be much more then reality would ever allow.

Nothing makes a room feel emptier than wanting someone in it.

How you can already miss someone when you are in the same room with them, I have no idea but it happens.

Don’t miss me when I’m gone, miss me while I’m here.

The Red and Assiniboine rivers in Winnipeg can provide some of the best recreational fishing in Manitoba, as well as a close and convenient place to spend a quiet, relaxing summer day. Most fishing in the rivers is done with natural baits such as worms, dead or live minnows.  All types of fish can be caught nearly everywhere in these rivers from shore to boat. All you need is a good rod and reel a bit of skill, some patience and a good deal of time.  Combine all of these and you will land “the big one”. Most of the best fishermen (and yes I am talking about ME!) catch the majority of their fish from early May to early June, late August to freeze up and during the winter ice fishing season.

When in doubt, watch where other people are fishing. Good spots always attract anglers, but be warned… I protect my spots ferociously!   This past summer we headed out as a family to haul in a whack load of white bass north of Selkirk.

While Dan failed to match me fish for fish (something he still complains about), I was proud to watch my beautiful daughter catch her first fish ever and my handsome nephew kick some butt when competing against his dad.

All in all, fishing in Manitoba, anywhere in Manitoba, is a terrific experience whether alone or as a family.  All you need is the right equipment, a license, lots of sun screen and you will have a life time of memories.  I know I will never forget my time this summer fishing and I look forward to getting back out there again.
